Conference writing & copy-writing

I have wide experience in fact-checking and writing copy and reports. I recently put together a white paper on education for the New York Times following a conference that the NYT sponsored; I've reported on talks and panels for the New York Forum and have conducted Q&As for their website. I've been a fact-checker for the NYT Syndicate, and I've freelanced as a copywriter for Penguin.

Academic activities

Last year I was invited to talk at the New York Classical Club, following the publication of an article I wrote about ancient philosophy in the New York Times. I spoke on the topic of Symposia: Ancient and Modern: philosophy, wine and when to have sex .

The lecture drew on my book, on Plutarch -- The Philosopher’s Banquet (co-edited with Dr. Katerina Oikonopoulou) -- which just came out this month, published by Oxford University Press. I’m also writing the chapter on ‘Table Talks’ for the Blackwell Companion to Plutarch, an introduction to the philosopher for a general readership.
